Isaiah 46:4
Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
[From the New International Version]
This verse, Isaiah 46:4, expresses God’s unwavering commitment to care for us throughout our lives. It begins by assuring us that even as we age, God remains constant, promising to sustain us in every stage of life. This highlights God’s unchanging nature and His lifelong dedication to our well-being.
The verse also reminds us that God is our Creator, saying, “I have made you.” Because He created us, He is deeply invested in our lives and committed to our care. This reassures us that God’s concern for us is continuous and personal.
God further promises to “carry” us, symbolizing His support and protection in times of need. No matter our challenges, God is committed to lifting us. This imagery provides comfort and security, knowing we are never alone.
Finally, the verse assures us that God will “rescue” us from any peril. His promise of rescue extends beyond physical dangers to all aspects of our lives. This shows God’s role as our constant sustainer, protector, and rescuer, underscoring His deep love and faithfulness.
