Job 6:14

Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend
forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

[New International Version]

This verse is part of the Book of Job in the Old Testament, where Job speaks about the essence of human compassion. Job expresses a profound truth about the moral imperative of kindness, particularly in times of distress.

He suggests that withholding kindness from a needy friend is a personal and spiritual failing. By doing so, one essentially forsakes the fear or reverence of the Almighty, indicating that true faith is demonstrated through acts of kindness and empathy.

This verse underscores the interconnectedness of human relationships and divine worship, emphasizing that one cannot claim to honor God while neglecting to show love to others.
