Luke 8:16
No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed.
Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
[New International Version]
This verse emphasizes the importance of openly sharing the truths, talents, and insights God has given us.
The “lamp” symbolizes knowledge, faith, or spiritual understanding that should not be hidden but shared for the benefit of others. Just as a lamp is placed on a stand to illuminate a room, we are called to live openly as examples of God’s light in the world. Hiding the lamp under a jar or bed reflects wasted potential or fear that prevents God’s message from reaching others.
This verse challenges us to live boldly, allowing our actions and faith to guide and inspire those around us.
