Proverbs 11:18

A wicked person earns deceptive wages,
but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.

[New International Version]

This verse contrasts the outcomes of wickedness and righteousness.

It suggests that dishonest or immoral actions yield “deceptive wages,” meaning any benefits gained through wrongdoings are temporary or misleading. In contrast, those who “sow righteousness”—acting with integrity, kindness, and fairness—can expect a genuine and everlasting reward.

The verse implies a moral principle that true prosperity and fulfillment come from virtuous actions rather than corrupt practices. Grace is found in the stability and trustworthiness of rewards earned through honest and righteous behavior.
