Joel 1:12

The vine is dried up
and the fig tree is withered;
the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree—
all the trees of the field—are dried up.
Surely the people’s joy
is withered away.

[This verse comes from the New International Version]

This verse depicts a scene of widespread devastation, symbolized by the withering of various fruit trees like vines, figs, pomegranates, palms, and apple trees.

These trees represent both the agricultural abundance and sustenance that people rely on. Their drying up reflects a physical and spiritual barrenness, showing how a lack of prosperity can lead to a loss of joy among the people. The imagery conveys that the joy and vitality of the people have disappeared alongside the destruction of the land’s resources.

It serves as a reminder of how deeply connected human well-being is to the blessings of the land.
