A Peace the World Can’t Touch

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John 14:27 (NIV)

On the night before the cross, with betrayal and agony hours away, Jesus spoke of peace. Not the fragile truce of treaties or the fleeting calm of good news—this is His peace. It is unshakable because it flows from the One who holds tomorrow.

The world offers peace that depends on circumstances: a quiet house, a clean bill of health, a stable job. But Jesus gives peace that defies circumstances. It steadies the heart in the storm, silences fear in the dark, and whispers, “I am enough.”

Do not let your heart be troubled. That’s not a suggestion; it’s a command rooted in a promise. Receive His gift today. Breathe it in. Let the Prince of Peace rule where panic once reigned.

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for granting us the peace that only faith in You can bring us. Thank You for your gentle nudges, and thank You for Your strong corrections. We are lost without You, but with You we are strong, capable, and safe. Help us to remember to seek You in Your word when we are troubled. We can always find You there, ready to show us the way, the truth, and the light. In Your sweet name we pray, AMEN.
