When Fear Creeps In
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
Fear is one of the most common human experiences, yet as believers, we are not meant to live under its grip. The Bible repeatedly reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
When fear creeps in—whether from uncertainty about the future, difficult circumstances, or the unknown—remember God’s promise to strengthen, uphold, and help us.
God doesn’t just command us to stop being afraid; He grounds that command in His presence. He is with you. He is your God. His strength and help are not distant possibilities—they are active realities holding you up right now.
Fear often shrinks our view to the size of our problems, but faith lifts our eyes to the greatness of our God. When we feel overwhelmed, we can echo the psalmist’s confidence: “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)
Take your specific fears to God in honest prayer. Name them, release them, and replace them with trust in His perfect love, which casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
Take heart—fear may knock, but it doesn’t have to stay. God’s peace and strength are yours.
He has already overcome the world (John 16:33), and in Him, you can walk forward with courage instead of trembling.
Lord, thank You that You are greater than any fear I face. Help me trust Your presence and power today. Strengthen my heart and quiet my anxious thoughts. I choose to rest in Your righteous right hand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
