Philippians 4:6-9, 13
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Trusting can be hard. Many would-be travelers are intimidated by the idea of trusting their lives to a machine prone to failures, and dependent on fallible humans. Trust involves relinquishing control and placing our well-being in the hands of another.
When it comes to Jesus, we may wonder if He can be trusted, especially during challenging times. In trying moments and seasons, we learn to trust as we seek solace in His Word, His character, and His unwavering faithfulness.
Trust is built when we notice the little, personal moments of God’s goodness and care. Reading something that makes us feel seen, getting good news, noticing that we’ve grown from our circumstances, and just watching nature display its glory can remind us of God’s faithfulness.
Noticing these things helps us cultivate gratitude and instills that sense of awe that reminds us how dependent we are on Him, and that He is the Giver of all good things (James 1:17).
Jesus, our Redeemer, thank You for carrying us when we are weak. Thank You for reminding us that You have provided for all our needs with a fantastic world, brimming with opportunity. Open our eyes to see You in all of that beauty, and let that reassure us that Your precious Word will sustain us, as we seek Your will. In Your name we pray, AMEN.
