Seeing Our Savior

“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation. . . .”

Luke 2:29-30

In these verses, Simeon, a devout and righteous man, holds the infant Jesus in his arms. His heart overflows with peace and fulfillment because he has witnessed the fulfillment of God’s promise—the arrival of the Savior. Simeon’s life was marked by anticipation, waiting on the Lord’s promise with unwavering faith. When he finally saw Jesus, his soul found rest.

For us today, the message is profound. Often, we seek peace in worldly achievements or fleeting comforts, but true peace comes from encountering Jesus. Simeon’s peace wasn’t circumstantial; it was rooted in the presence of the Savior.

This is a good time to contemplate whether we’ve truly “seen” our Savior. Not just with our eyes, but with hearts open to His grace and love. In moments of joy or struggle, Jesus remains our salvation, the fulfillment of God’s promises to us.

Lord, thank You for sending our Savior Jesus. Open the eyes of our hearts to see You clearly. Help us find peace not in our circumstances, but in Your presence. Just as Simeon rejoiced in seeing Your salvation, may our hearts rejoice daily in knowing You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
