Home for Christmas
Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God… And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Romans 8:14-15
This time of year, we long for home and our loved ones as we eagerly anticipate gatherings with friends and family.
Interestingly, Christ left his home at Christmas. He forsook heaven to come to our sinful world. The Holy One, the Creator, descended to give us a gift we didn’t deserve.
Sin alienated us from God. Jesus sought us out and brought us back. He willingly bore our sin, cutting himself off from God’s love to love us. He came to earth to lead us to Heaven, paying our debt to provide the path home, and it is through Christ that we can call the almighty, holy God “Abba, Father.”
Christmas is a great time to reflect on that love and Jesus’ invitation to come home with Him to Heaven. May we grow as His children in an ever-deepening relationship of gratitude and faith.
Dear Savior Jesus, Thank you for coming to earth to bring us home to our heavenly Father. Deepen our love for You, and strengthen our trust in You. May our lives reflect that we are children of God. In Your name we pray, AMEN.
