Luke 1:46-49 (KJV)

46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

Mary spoke these words after God sent the angel Gabriel to tell her that she had been chosen to bear a son, who was the Son of God. She had then gone to visit her cousin Elisabeth, who had greeted her as “the mother of my Lord.”

God had given each of these women an understanding that they were chosen to bear children for a divine mission. Even if they couldn’t fully comprehend how or why, they know this was God’s work and God’s will.

God wants to do a work in each of our lives as well. He wants to place the spirit and nature of Christ within us. We know we’re small and weak and unworthy… but God still wants to dwell in our hearts and lives.

“And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord… And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.”

Our lives will always magnify something. Our lives will be a reflection of whatever we are rejoicing in.

May God help us, today and every day, to rejoice in Christ our Savior, and to magnify HIS nature and HIS life.
