James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5 reminds us that when we lack wisdom, we can come boldly to God, who gives generously without finding fault. Wisdom often feels like that rare jewel we admire in others but struggle to find in ourselves. Yet here is God’s promise—if we truly ask, He will give it.
Proverbs 2 further explains that wisdom must be sought and searched for, like a hidden treasure. This means valuing God’s truth above comfort, convenience, and every other possession. Spiritual wisdom cannot be casually collected—it is given to those who prize it above all else.
God longs to pour wisdom into our lives, but the gift comes when we treasure it enough to pursue Him first. Wisdom is not merely about knowing what to do, but about knowing the One who guides our every step. And in finding Him, we find the wisdom that truly satisfies.
Dear God in Heaven. Redeemer. Savior. Bless me with wisdom today. Give me the will to do the things that please You, and teach me to seek a relationship with You in which You grant me Your divine wisdom. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
