ARE YOU NEGLECTING GOD’S SALVATION?

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

Hebrews 2:2-4

The author of Hebrews employed remarkably persuasive language. Paul was highly effective in convincing the Jews who were tempted to revert to the Law. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, God has consistently communicated His salvation, which can only be attained through His Son. If all that angels have proclaimed has transpired, then we cannot evade God’s judgment if we disregard such a profound salvation.

Similarly, when an angel informed Zacharias that his wife Elizabeth would conceive a son and he could name him John, Zacharias was too apprehensive to believe it and remained silent until the baby was born, at which point he confirmed the name. Just like when an angel announced to Mary that she would bear a son named Jesus, she believed it and it came to pass.

God sent His Son to be our Savior; it would not be wise to neglect salvation that is so freely given.

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for all of the blessings You have given us. Help us to recognize them. We want to be humble and gracious, and we want to accept the miracle of the salvation You offer through Your son Christ Jesus. Forgive us for our sins and give us opportunities to bless others, spreading the good Word of the salvation.
