THE VOICE OF GOD
“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, during the wilderness trial, where your ancestors tested Me despite seeing My works. For forty years, I was grieved with that generation, saying, ‘Their hearts are astray; they do not know My ways.’ So, in My anger, I swore, ‘They shall not enter My rest’”
Hebrews 4:7-11
God has set today as the day for salvation!
When we hear God calling us to repentance, we must respond. We can’t ignore Him. Salvation cannot be delayed until tomorrow because we have no guarantee of another day! The condition is hearing God’s voice.
Where would you spend eternity if you died today? Israel failed to enter God’s rest due to unbelief. They heard His voice but rebelled, their hearts hardened by fear and doubt, leading to their destruction. King Saul was commanded through to completely destroy the Amalekites and their possessions as judgment for their wickedness, but driven by pride and self-interest, Saul disobeyed. As a result, he lost his kingship and God’s favor.
It is important to remember this as we consider communicating with God. We must ask ourselves what our heart’s condition is because each time we ignore His voice, our heart hardens further.
This verse reminds us to get right with God every day.
Dear Father God, You alone are wonderous and worthy to be praised. Thank You for the glory of this day. Please forgive my sins today. Stir in me a heart that seeks only goodness and light. Let me shine Your light on others. Provided me with the words and actons that would bring more people to salvation. Keep me and my loved ones safe, and be with me today. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
