God Restores
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalm 23:1-6
(Written by Kat L.)
Psalm 23 depicts David following the Good Shepherd to green pastures and still waters for nourishment and restoration. This imagery extends beyond rest. It denotes action. David then follows the Shepherd on paths of righteousness, highlighting the importance of obedience and living out the psalm’s teachings daily.
Living out Psalm 23 involves daily nourishment, rest, and restoration through God’s Word, presence, and Spirit. This strengthens us to serve, love, and build God’s kingdom.
The Lord, our Good Shepherd, understands how to care for us. If we reject His invitation, we’ll miss out on His gifts for us. We’ll burn out and switch to surviving instead of thriving. We’ll forget what we are supposed to be living for.
Dear Father in Heaven, thank You for leading us to peace and safety. May we faithfully follow You to the paths of righteousness so that You are glorified and seen through our lives. Restore us where we are broken, and and at the end of our days, bring us Inyo Your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN.
