My God Is Love
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
1 John 4:16 (NIV)
As we start our weekend, remember the first thing God ever revealed about Himself: “God is love.” Before rules or prophecies, love was there—creating galaxies, breathing life into dust, and calling you by name. You woke up to launch into your Saturday held by a love that never sleeps, never wavers, and never weighs your failures. Every new morning begins here: you are loved, not because you deserve it, but because love is who God is.
This love isn’t meant to stay inside us; it’s a river meant to flow. Jesus said everything boils down to two commands: love God with all you’ve got and love your neighbor as yourself. Today, before the rush begins, ask: Who needs to feel God’s love through me? A kind word, a patient moment, a simple text—these small choices clothe us in love and show a watching world that God is near.
So step into this day knowing you are loved beyond measure, and determined to let that love spill over.
Loving Father, As the sun rises on this new day, we stand in quiet wonder that You are love—eternal, unchanging, and poured out over us before we ever took a breath. Thank You for loving us first, for waking us again inside the circle of Your affection that never loosens its hold. Open our eyes to the people You’ve placed around us today. Give us courage to choose love in the small moments, to speak kindly, listen patiently, and act mercifully so that everyone we meet catches a glimpse of You. Remind us that Your perfect love flows through us. May we carry it faithfully until the day ends and someone, somewhere, feels a little less alone because we passed by in Your name. AMEN.
