God Is Faithful
I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.
—John 5:24
Jesus does not say “will have” eternal life; He says you already have it. Not “might escape” judgment; you do not come into judgment at all. Not “will someday pass” from death to life; you have already crossed that border. The moment you heard His voice and believed the Father who sent Him, the transaction was complete. The resurrection is a present possession, not merely a future hope.
This is the gospel: the trial is over before it begins. The verdict was pronounced on a hill outside Jerusalem when the Son took the judgment you deserved. Your sins were condemned in His body, so that in Him you are declared righteous forever. You are not waiting for life; you are living it. You are not on parole, hoping to stay out of prison; the prison doors are open, and the chains have fallen.
Today, breathe the air of the new creation. Walk as one already acquitted, already alive, already loved without limit. The Voice that spoke worlds into being has spoken your name in love, and nothing (neither death nor judgment) can reverse His word. You are safe. You are His. Forever.
Dear Lord in Heaven, You are mighty and full of grace. Thank You for loving us. Help us to live as children with strong faith and unwavering hope, and forgive us for our transgressions. In Your name we pray, AMEN.
