Jeremiah 17:7-8

7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.

8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

[New International version]

How deep are your roots?  Not the roots of human strength or purpose, but the roots of your faith?  What source feeds your roots?

This will truly determine if our faith remains strong, or whether it wilts at the first bit of drought or topples over in the first storm that comes along.

As this scripture assures us, if a tree has deep roots that seek nourishment from the right source beneath the surface, then it will remain green and fruitful, despite what’s going on around it.

If our faith is based on what someone else says, does or thinks, we’ll eventually be disappointed. But if our faith is deeply rooted in the love of God and the sacrifice of Jesus, we will have strength to withstand any storm… that’s a blessing we can have full confidence in.

“Dear Heavenly Father, Help us today to feed on Your truth and seek nourishment from Your spirit today.  Help us to avoid having shallow roots, but may we allow our faith to be rooted deep in Your love and wisdom, that nothing would sway us from trusting and believing in You.  In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”
