OVERCOMING ADVERSITY
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardlywe are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV)
As Christians, adversity is a bridge to eternal glory, not a thief of joy—our perspective transforms it.
Focusing on the eternal renews us inwardly, restoring hope through submission to God’s purposes.
This perspective gives us strength to endure trials as Paul did amid affliction and persecution.
Dear God, thank You for being our calm in the storms of life. We pray for health, wisdom, and understanding. Let us appreciate what we have, be peaceful in the turmoil, and steadfast in Your work. Forgive us for our failures and help us to be vessels for Your light. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN.
