John 1:12-13
King James version: 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
New International version: 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
What a tremendous blessing and comfort… to know that, as we receive Christ and follow Him, we then become a child of God. And, as a child of God, we are heirs with Christ.
This also reminds me of Psalm 61:5, which reads: “For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.”
As members of a family, the children bear the family name, they are loved, protected and cared for. God wants to do all that for us, and so much more!
