Matthew 7:13-14
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
[New International version]
These verses may be hard for some people to accept, but they are the words and teachings of Jesus, from His “Sermon on the Mount,” found in Matthew 5-7.
Even God wants law and order. He is loving, patient, kind and merciful. But He also wants people to spend eternity with Him who truly love Him.
What we acquire and achieve in this life won’t matter. Whether we come from wealth and power, or poverty and insignificance, none of that will matter or count. It won’t “fit” through the narrow “gate.”
The narrow road that leads to life eternal is for those who have invited Jesus into their heart, and have a love for God. One thing is sure… if we hold on to God’s hand, we will then be walking in the same path with our Savior. That is a promise we can always trust in.
