MORNING DEVOTION (June 26)

Psalm 86

5 – For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

13 – For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

15 – But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

[King James version]

Commentary by Anneta G.

Where would we be without God’s mercy? We would be lost, hopeless, and doomed.  But God is rich in mercy to all who repent and turn to Him. There are many ways to describe mercy, but here is one beautiful explanation:

Mercy is not receiving the punishment one deserves, while grace is receiving blessings one does not deserve.

Mercy is God holding back punishment, and grace is God bestowing favor and blessings.

As God has shown mercy to us, may we each extend mercy to others as well.

May the song below bring peace to your heart, and may the Lord give us each more of the spirt of Christ, one day at a time.
