Isaiah 41:13

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

[New International version]

Every parent instinctively reaches down to hold the hand of their small child when walking with them, to keep them safe and secure. At first, it’s to keep the toddler steady, when they’re just learning to walk. Sometimes it’s to keep the child from running ahead and getting lost or hurt. Other times, the ground is rough, and you don’t want the child to trip and fall.

When the child gets older, they become independent – sometimes too soon – and yank their hand away. Still, the parent is there, ready to reach out if needed.

As we grow older and wiser, we realize how precious it is to be able to hold the hand of a loved one.

Our Heavenly Father wants to do this for us. He wants to hold our hand and tell us there is no need to fear, because He is there to help us. May we each hold tightly to God’s hand and never let go.

Enjoy the following song, “The Nail-Scarred Hands.” Beautifully sung by a Christian family in India.
