MORNING DEVOTION (July 24) “Love”

2

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

[New International version]

These verses describe a Christ-like love, a righteous, godly love.  It’s the kind of love God has for us, and the kind of love He wants us to show toward others.

Let’s flip the verse around.  What makes love grow and endure?  Love can’t grow and it can’t endure when there is a LACK of patience and kindness. Love can’t grow or endure where there is envy, boastfulness, pride, dishonor, anger or unforgiveness.

May God help us each to have a more Christ-like love for one another every day.
