Psalm 73:2-3
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
[King James version]
Commentary by Anneta G: What a powerful reminder that things are not always as they appear, and we should never let envy cloud our judgement!
Sometimes it does feel that those who are “wicked” are enjoying all the prosperity, and we ask WHY? But, in this psalm, after listing all the ways it seems the wicked have so much prosperity, the writer then realizes God knows exactly what He’s doing.
Verse 17: Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
What’s the “sanctuary of God”? I like to think of it as the place of prayer. When we’re questioning things from our own perspective, it’s sometimes hard to understand. But when we look at the situation from the place of prayer, everything is much clearer, and we realize how blessed we are!
