MORNING DEVOTION (August 23)

2 Timothy 4:16-18 (KJV)

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Death cannot sever the bond between us and the love of God. Christ’s triumph over death offers victory to those who believe in Him – freedom from fear. Through the gospel, Jesus has vanquished death and unveiled the promise of eternal life and immortality. For those who believe that Jesus died and rose again to save sinners, this is the most fundamental promise of the gospel.

Jesus’ victory over death allows us to be brave. Nothing can scare us. Like Paul, we can sing, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

God, we are thankful for Your Word and the promise LIFE with your victory over death. Jesus was crucified, then He died in our place, suffering for us. Then, three days later, He rose, victorious over death and Satan. Thank You for being a loving Father. Nothing will separate us from Your love. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
