MORNING DEVOTION (August 15)

1

John 14:2-7

2 “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

(Commentary by Kat L)
As we hit the end of the week, we may find ourselves in a slump, weary and ready to get through it. Or we may be excited about what lies ahead on the weekend. Either way, it’s a good time to reflect on the HERO of our lives: Jesus.
He is the only way to God, the only path to eternal life. Knowing this, we are invited to think about our daily choices and make sure they fit with what He teaches.
THE WAY
If we follow Jesus as the Way, we can learn from His example of love, humility, and obeying God. We do this when we show kindness to a stranger, forgive someone who hurt us, or ask God for help in a tough decision. When we follow His teachings, we not only get closer to God, but we also feel the peace and purpose that come from living in His will.
THE TRUTH
As the Truth, Jesus is the way we measure reality. His words and actions help us stay grounded in a world that can be confusing. If we embrace Him as the Truth, we should think, say, and do what He teaches. Our words and actions should show love, honesty, compassion, and integrity. To live in His truth, we need to read the Bible and let His words help us see things clearly to avoid the lies of the world, trusting His guidance. Engage with Scripture not as a task, but as a way to hear His voice and know His heart.
THE LIFE
Jesus as the Life reminds us that true fulfillment and eternal peace are found only in Him. A relationship with Jesus is the source of abundant life, filling us with purpose and hope. We nurture this relationship through daily prayer as we speak and listen to God. Fellowship with other believers also strengthens this connection, offering encouragement and accountability. In rooting ourselves in Him, we tap into the life He promises.
As we continue through the week, we can reflect on how to focus more on Jesus, and ways to share with others the amazing truth that Jesus is THE way, THE truth, and THE life.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you for being the way, the truth, and the life. Help us to follow your path, to live according to your truth, and to find our lives in You. Guide us to share Your love and truth with others. AMEN.
