MORING DEVOTION (September 16)

MY REDEEMER LIVES

“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” — Hebrews 1:3

In the first chapter of Hebrews, the Holy Spirit inspired the writer to build an unshakeable case for the greatness of Jesus Christ. In the middle of revealing His glory, we find the core of the Gospel message: He made purification for our sins, and took His place in Heaven. This powerful statement affirms that Jesus is our Redeemer. He, and He alone, was qualified to pay the price for our sins. No one else could have redeemed us.

As the sinless “Lamb of God” (John 1:29), Jesus came down from eternity to become fully human, without ever ceasing to be fully God. He preached, taught, and healed, all with the ultimate purpose of fulfilling God’s will to redeem humanity.

Jesus was betrayed, beaten, and killed, yet His final words on the cross were not a cry of defeat, but of victory: “It is finished!” (John 19:30). He had completed the work of our salvation. His death was a personal act, and His love for us so profound that He endured without resentment.

Then, He rose again AMEN!

This is the ultimate truth of our faith: Our Redeemer lives!

And our redemption is a settled matter, purchased by the precious blood of Christ.

Dear Heavenly Father, we praise You for Your Son, Jesus Christ, our great Redeemer. Thank You that He willingly bore the agony of the cross to make purification for our sins. We rejoice that He did not stay in the tomb, but rose again and is now seated at Your right hand. Because He lives, we live with hope and assurance. Help us remember that we have  been bought by His blood, as His prize. Help us to live our lives in gratitude for this priceless gift of redemption, and in a way that glorifies Your precious name. In Jesus’s name, we pray, AMEN.
