From Daily Mail: US Postal Service worker allegedly tried to run over a 10-year-old boy after the child tried to retrieve a package that he delivered to the wrong address.
William White Jr., 41, was arrested on New Year’s Eve and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, petit theft and criminal mischief in connection with the shocking incident days earlier, on December 27.
That day, White allegedly dropped off a package at the wrong address on Kingfisher Way in Escambia County, Florida, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The child, whose family owns the home that the package was wrongfully delivered to, then noticed the mistake, and placed the package on his electric scooter to deliver it to the correct address, authorities said, according to the Pensacola News Journal.
But when White saw the child with the package, he thought the child was stealing it.
Trying to right a wrong, authorities say White “purposely drove the USPS vehicle towards the child and ran over the scooter.”
Fortunately, the child got away with only a hurt ankle, although his scooter was damaged, WEAR reports.
White allegedly took the scooter and yelled at the child as he drove away, authorities said.
Authorities later located and booked him into Escambia County Jail.
