1 – Biden’s candidacy in doubt after weak, frozen debate performance against Trump leaves Dems in ‘aggressive panic’

From the New York Post: President Biden repeatedly froze and misspoke during his first — and possibly only — debate against former President Donald Trump Thursday night, prompting anguish and alarm in the Democratic Party fewer than four months before the general election.

In what will be the most-replayed political moment of the night, the week, the month, and maybe the year, the 81-year-old incumbent lost his train of thought for about nine seconds, looking down at his lectern before popping up again to say that he “finally beat Medicare.”

Biden, who would be 86 if he finishes a second term in January 2029, did not help his cause by speaking in a soft, scratchy voice that anonymous aides attributed to a cold he apparently picked up during his seven days out of the public eye prepping for the Atlanta forum.

2 – Jill Biden leads Joe off the stage

After the CNN-sponsored debate concluded Thursday night, former President Donald Trump walked off stage. However, Jill Biden came out on stage and assisted her husband as he slowly left the stage and carefully made his way down the steps where they greeted CNN hosts Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.

The Bidens then attended a “watch party” where a small crowd of supporters cheered and applauded.

“Joe, you did such a great job. You answered every question! You knew all the facts,” Jill told her husband as the crowd applauded. She then claimed that all Trump did was “LIE!”

Jill gave the microphone to Joe, who launched into a story about John Wayne, and claimed that all Trump did was lie throughout the debate. Biden claimed that over the next few days, “they’re going to be out there fact-checking all the things he said.”

3 – Biden makes huge omission while claiming no American troops died on his watch

From Fox News: President Biden claimed during the CNN Presidential Debate Simulcast Thursday night that he is “the only president this century” and “this decade” that did not have any troops “dying anywhere in the world”—failing to acknowledge the 13 fallen service members who were killed during his administration’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.

“Truth is, I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have—this decade—any troops dying anywhere in the world like he did,” Biden said.

But during the Biden administration’s disastrous withdrawal of U.S. troops and assets from Afghanistan, on Aug. 26, 2021, 13 U.S. servicemembers were killed outside of Hamid Karzai International Airport.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) provided the list:

Unlike Joe Biden, the American people will NEVER FORGET the 13 brave American heroes who died due to his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan:

Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover
Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo
Sgt. Nicole L. Gee
Cpl. Hunter Lopez
Cpl. Daegan W. Page
Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza
Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz
Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum
Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola
Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui
Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak
Army Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss

4 – CNN fact-checks Joe Biden’s wild claims during debate

While Biden claimed that all Trump did was lie during the debate, CNN fact-checked Biden on live television immediately following the debate. One by one, they went down the list of claims Biden made that were not true.

WATCH:

CNN not only fact-checked Biden, but the liberal network also released a poll on who won the debate.

The results:

  • 33% – Biden
  • 67% – Trump

5 – Harris defends Biden debate performance in testy interview with Anderson Cooper

From The Hill: Vice President Harris defended President Biden’s debate performance during an occasionally tense CNN interview, where even Biden’s running mate had to concede he had a “slow start” during his showdown with former President Trump.

“What we saw tonight is the president making a very clear contrast with Donald Trump on all the issues that matter to the American people,” Harris said in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “Yes, there was a slow start, but it was a strong finish. And what became very clear through the course of the night is that Joe Biden is fighting on behalf of the American people. On substance on policy on performance, Joe Biden is extraordinarily strong.”

Cooper balked at Harris’s last line in the wake of Biden’s debate performance. The president’s voice was often raspy, which the White House later attributed to a cold, and he at times lost his train of thought or struggled to make his point clearly.

6 – Some Democrats start calling for Biden to step aside and ‘throw in the towel’ on 2024

From NBC News: Some Democrats began calling for President Joe Biden to step aside so the party can nominate another candidate after he stumbled badly in Thursday’s debate against his Republican rival, former President Donald Trump.

“This was like a champion boxer who gets in the ring past his prime and needs his corner to throw in the towel,” said a Democratic lawmaker, adding that he meant Biden should exit the race.

The options for a switch are limited: If the president doesn’t choose to leave of his own volition, there would have to be a revolt among Democratic National Convention delegates, the vast majority of whom were elected on their pledge to nominate Biden. But that’s what some Democrats were thinking about Thursday night.

It’s “time to talk about an open convention and a new Democratic nominee,” said a second Democratic lawmaker who has been a solid Biden supporter.

7 – Liberal media are in freak-out mode

MSNBC’s Joy Reid said she was on the phone throughout the debate with Democrats, political and campaign operatives and Obama-world people. “The universal reaction was somewhere approaching panic,” she admitted, as they noted that Biden was seen as extremely feeble and weak.

CNN commentator Van Jones said, “He didn’t do well at all.” He added, “I’ll give you the analysis. You kind of have the old man versus the con man. I can walk you through how it’s supposed to see it and say it, but I just want to speak for my heart I love that guy. As a good man he loves his country. He’s doing the best that he can. But he had a test to meet tonight to restore confidence of the country and of the base and he failed to do that. I think there’s a lot of people who are going to want to see him consider taking a different course now, we’re still far from our convention. And there is time for this party to figure out a different way forward, if he will allow us to do that but that was not what we needed from Joe Biden and his personally painful for a lot of people. It’s not just panic, its pain of what we saw tonight.”

Also… was Biden given a list of the questions in advance? CNN’s Erin Burnett certainly indicated that he was:

8 – Biden’s odds of re-election plummet after dismal debate performance, betting markets show

From the New York Post: President Biden tanked his odds of serving a second term in the White House Thursday after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump, according to data from political betting markets.

The 81-year-old president’s chances of re-election plummeted 15 points in the aftermath of the CNN debate, one betting website, PredictIt.org, showed.

The site, which allows users to buy stock in a candidate’s chances of winning the November race, showed Biden at 48 cents per share – the equivalent of a 48% chance of victory – prior to the debate and at only 33 cents per share afterward.

9 – Biden’s bizarre social media post ahead of the debate with Trump

It has frequently been speculated that Joe Biden may have been given prescription drugs to help keep him more mentally sharp during speeches, and for his debate with Trump.

Just before the debate Thursday night, a post was made on Biden’s personal X/Twitter account of himself holding a beverage can. His campaign is selling canned water as a fundraiser.

Biden’s post reads, “I don’t know what they’ve got in these performance enhancers, but I’m feeling pretty jacked up. Try it yourselves, folks. See you in a bit: http://joe.link/SecretSauce.”

10 – Trump campaign releases BRUTAL video montage of all Biden’s worst moments during debate

“Needless to say, the drugs didn’t work,” the Trump War Room mocked.
