Former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) is just two months into his 87 month prison sentence (which amounts to just over 7 years), after he pleaded guilty in 2024 to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Many conservatives feel the 7-year sentence Santos received was excessive for the charges against him.
From prison, Santos has been writing columns about his confinement for the South Shore Press, and he is already pleading with President Donald Trump to intervene and get him released.
On Sept. 16, he announced, “I have been forced into solitary confinement while behind bars as the @FBI investigates a threat against my life. “Welcome to Hell!””
In an update on Monday, September 22, Santos explained the harsh conditions he is being subjected to, including not being given his inhaler until over 30 hours after he needed it, causing him to go into a full-blown panic attack.
He wrote: “And yes, I renew my plea to President Trump: intervene. Help me escape this daily torment and let me return to my family. I am a son, a sibling, a partner, a man whose life matters to those who love him. If there is any decency left in the offices that oversee places like FCI Fairton, let it move now.”
Still allowed to post on X, Santos shared a link to his article, and tagged his former colleague in Congress, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).
My weekly series from behind bars and inside solitary confinement continues for the @SSPNewsroom. I make this passionate plea directly to @realDonaldTrump:

Greene responded the same day, posting the following statement:
Former Congressman George Santos has been in solitary confinement for nearly 30 days in FCI Fairton NJ. They say it’s “for his safety” due to threats.
I’m told he is in his cell 24 hours per day and he is only allowed to get a shower 3 times a week. He does not get any sunlight. He’s only allowed to buy stamps from the commissary and is drinking water from the sink. He is in the cell on the right marked “after” and there are no windows. This is torture.
I have sent a letter asking for his sentence to commuted, 87 months is way too long for the crimes he was sentenced for. There are criminals as we speak serving in Congress and many other former government officials that are criminals walking free that did far more heinous things than George Santos!!!
George Santos had a better voting record than MOST members of Congress!!! Including EVERYONE who voted to expel him!!!
Honestly, George should be pardoned!!!

Greene also posted a copy of a letter she sent to the DOJ Pardon Attorney Ed Martin, asking him to urge President Trump to commute Santos’ sentence.
“This is the letter I sent for George. 🙏 I’d like to upgrade it to a pardon request and I will do so,” she wrote.

Many conservatives responding to her post are agreeing that Santos should be pardoned.
George is a friend of mine, a gentle soul and a Trump supporting MAGA Republican who voted MAGA. No one deserves the kind of solitary confinement he is suffering. Please Pres. Trump, come to his aid!

Yep, this all checks out. Same thing they did to me.

Solitary for George Santos is absolutely insane. This has to stop.

The sentence George Santos received was ridiculous.
He should be pardoned.

This is sickening. Thanks for sharing.

I support @RepMTG’s call for George Santos to be moved out of solitary confinement.
Having been imprisoned in solitary confinement myself for nearly 6 months (in a Libyan prison as a POW in 2011), I can say from experience that nobody should be held in such conditions.

Not a fan of Santos, but watching Omar ranting while retaining her seat is infuriating.
Congress has proved themselves to be weak.
And we won’t forget at the polls.

George Santos needs to be pardoned.

Santos had to turn himself in to begin his prison sentence on July 25 of this year.
