From Fox News: If Democratic lawmakers won’t listen to President Trump on cutting waste, maybe they’ll listen to President Barack Obama.

In a recently resurfaced video from 2011, then-President Obama called on the federal government to cut wasteful government spending and programs, even the ones that “a lot of people care about.”

“Everyone knows that getting rid of the deficit will require some tough decisions, and that includes cutting back on billions of dollars in programs that a lot of people care about,” the former president said in the nearly 14-year-old clip.

As a reminder to Democratic figures demanding an end to the Trump administration’s agenda of cutting wasteful government spending, conservative users on X shared the old video of Obama lobbying for similar things.

In the video, Obama rightly notes that much of the wasteful spending needs to be cut, even if the U.S. didn’t have a deficit… including the “pointless waste and stupid spending that doesn’t benefit anybody.”

He also mentioned thousands of empty buildings the government needs to just sell off, and said, “Just as families are living within their means, government should too.”

And the real kicker… Obama said he was putting then-Vice President Joe Biden in charge to “hunt down misspent tax dollars in every agency and department of this government.”

Prominent X user MAZE posted the old video and wrote, “OMG this is not AI, it’s real. It’s a must watch. 2011. Obama announces a DOGE department and puts Joe Biden in charge of it! 😂 z’Nobody messes with Joe.” 🤣.”

Elon Musk pounced on the video, and wrote, “Obama sounds exactly like @DOGE!!”

There’s more…. here’s Chuck Schumer in 2010, calling to cut the waste, fraud and abuse out of Medicare.

Schumer acknowledged that “about a third of all the spending in Medicare and Medicaid doesn’t go to healthcare but to other things.” He notes that one-third is all waste, fraud and abuse that must be cut out.

At the same meeting in 2010, Nancy Pelosi says, ““We cannot keep our promises on Medicare we simply must cut the waste, fraud and abuse.”

And here’s Nancy Pelosi saying every dollar spent should be subject to the most intense scrutiny, so that no taxpayer dollar is wasted.

Below is Bernie Sanders in 2011… saying exactly what Elon Musk has ben saying today.

“I will not deny for one second that there is waste and fraud and bureaucracy in almost every government program out there. I believe we’ve got to take a hard look at them all…. if we did all or some of these things, we could easily reduce the deficit by well over $4 trillion over the next decade, if not much more.”

Bernie Sanders was saying the same thing about waste and fraud in government in 2008.

And shocker… he admits that while it’s right to condemn the Congress for the waste, “it’s also important to note that we have an administration… and the function of the administration is to administer, so that when there is waste and fraud, the administration should also be on top of the situation.”
