MAJOR MOVE: DeSantis announces Second Amendment sales tax holiday in Florida

From News4Jax: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a new Second Amendment sales tax holiday starting Monday and running through the end of the year.

The tax holiday covers firearms, ammunition, bows, crossbows, accessories, as well as fishing and camping gear.

The governor emphasized the importance of supporting Second Amendment rights, criticizing Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried for her stance.

“She didn’t believe in the Second Amendment,” he said, highlighting the contrast with his administration’s policies.

In an announcement post on X, Gov. DeSantis wrote:

Thanks to Florida’s strong financial position, we’ve been able to deliver billions of dollars in tax relief. We’re committed to helping Floridians keep more of their hard-earned money, and the Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday is one way to do that.

From now until December 31, Floridians can purchase tax-free firearms, ammunition, and other supplies for hunting, fishing, and camping. Florida is a great state for outdoor adventure and exercising your Second Amendment rights, and we’re working to keep it that way.

In another post, the governor added:

Great to be in Plant City today to kick off the new Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday. From today until the end of this year, you can buy the gear you need for hunting, fishing, and camping without paying sales tax. Firearms, ammunition, and accessories are now tax-free—and we’re also offering half-priced passes for @MyFWC shooting ranges on select weekends and holidays for the rest of the year.
