From Fox News: Kentucky state Democratic Sen. Robin Webb, who represents Kentucky’s rural 18th Senate district, is switching her party affiliation to Republican after she says the Democrat Party “left me.”
“First and foremost, I’m a mother, a rancher and a lawyer with deep personal and professional roots in Kentucky’s coal country,” Webb explained. “As the Democratic Party continues its lurch to the left and its hyperfocus on policies that hurt workforce and economic development in my region, I no longer feel it represents my values.
“It has become untenable and counterproductive to the best interests of my constituents for me to remain a Democrat.”
Webb was originally elected to the Kentucky State House after defeating Republican Ramona Gee in 1998.
The Kentucky Democrat Party is fuming, and claimed she has “joined the party funding billionaire tax breaks off the backs of vulnerable Kentuckians, betraying her constituents in the process.”

However, all Webb’s constituents certainly don’t feel betrayed. In a Facebook post, Dave Gill wrote, “I supported Robin Webb when she was a Democrat. Because I found her to be more concerned about issues than about politics. And I will continue to support her as a Republican. My father was a Democrat and served in a Democratic administration in Frankfort and if he were alive today, he would say the same thing she did. “I’m not leaving the party, the party left me”. The party has a chance to change now that the deceit and corruption of the last four years is coming to light. Or they can keep going hard left and keep losing good people like Robin. #WelcomeHome.”
Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams (R) wrote, “We aren’t just taking deceased Democrats off the rolls; we’re adding new Republicans. Welcome Sen. Robin Webb to @KYGOP, Kentucky’s majority party.”

Like so many good honest people with common sense who work hard and pay taxes, the Democrat party has abandoned them. Robin will make an excellent addition to our great Kentucky State Senate Majority!”
