Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) received fewer votes and a lower vote share in Massachusetts than Vice President Kamala Harris, despite Harris’s loss in the presidential election.

Harris garnered 2,074,446 votes (61.3%), while Warren received 1,988,453 votes (59.3%) for her Senate race. Warren fell 85,993 votes short of Harris, with over 95% of votes counted, according to Decision Desk HQ.

CNN reported Warren trailing Harris by nearly 500,000 votes, based on 76% of votes counted. While Senate races generally attract less attention than presidential ones, the vote gap between President-elect Trump and Montana Senate winner Tim Sheehy was smaller. Trump received 351,783 votes to Sheehy’s 319,432, a difference of 32,351. However, in percentage terms, Trump led with 58.1% compared to Sheehy’s 52.6%, reflecting Montana’s smaller population.

In Rhode Island, a deep blue state, margins between Harris and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) were closer. Harris received 282,915 votes (55.5%), while Whitehouse outperformed her with 293,265 votes (59.9%) in his reelection, per CNN. Despite underperforming a historically weak Democratic nominee, Warren showed no signs of humility, labeling her opponents as “extremists” on her campaign account.

“The far right wants us to feel powerless,” Warren posted on X on Thursday. “Extremists are counting on apathy, cynicism, & heartbreak to be their rocket fuel. They are counting on us to point fingers at each other & lose trust in our ability to make change. I absolutely refuse to give them the satisfaction.”
