From Washington Examiner: The Trump administration is allowing the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement to access the personal information of Medicaid enrollees to assist them in catching illegal immigrants.
ICE will now be able to access the home addresses and ethnicities, as well as other personal information, of nearly 79 million Medicaid enrollees. The arrangement has not been announced yet.
Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin told NBC News that the agreement between DHS and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is “an initiative” to ensure undocumented immigrants don’t access Medicaid benefits.
The Trump administration, with new funding, aims to increase deportations.
ICE, with a daily arrest rate of 3,000, according to a June report, will receive Medicaid information for all enrollees.
