President Biden is under increasing pressure from some high-profile Democrats, who are urging him to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race or be replaced as the party’s nominee following a poor debate performance against former President Trump.
During the first debate, Biden, 81, struggled with his words, often losing his train of thought and speaking with a raspy voice, raising concerns about his capability to continue his campaign.
While several lawmakers, candidates, and pundits have voiced their concerns or discussed the possibility of a different nominee, only a few have publicly called for Biden to withdraw. Despite this, Biden has made it clear that he has no intention of dropping out and remains the presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2024 election.
Here is a list of those Democrats urging Biden to officially drop out:
- David Axelrod
- James Carville
- Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas)
- Former Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio)
- Julián Castro
- Adam Frisch
- Michael B. Moore
- Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.)
- Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.)
- Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minn.)
-
Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.)
