LIBERAL SOLUTIONS: Schumer aggressively claims more gun control will solve shootings like Brown University

9

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called for stricter gun control following Saturday’s handgun attack at gun-free Brown University, while not mentioning the school’s policy barring firearms on campus, including for concealed-carry permit holders seeking to defend themselves.

Instead, Schumer echoed a familiar Democratic talking point by calling for more gun laws after existing restrictions failed to stop the attack, with Forbes posting video of him praising Australia’s “courage” in pursuing expanded gun controls following the Bondi Beach terror attack.

Schumer then said, “If Australia can find courage to act after a tragedy like the one at Bondi Beach, Congress should certainly find the will to act after a tragedy like the one at Brown University.”

The Senate Minority Leader added, “…Congress must again act against gun violence and act against all forms of violent hate.”

He did not cite any specific gun control measure that would have prevented the Brown University attack.
