Democrats and the liberal media have dissolved into hysterics since President Donald Trump began demolition of the East Wing of the White House this week, in order to build a new, privately-funded ballroom.
President Trump said Wednesday that the project will cost an estimated $300 million. He will be paying for it out of his own pocket, along with help from a long list of private donors.
Democrats are fuming. Never mind that many previous presidents have made renovations to the White House in the past. And, never mind that previous presidents have expressed the wish for a ballroom.
But since President Trump is the one getting it done, they’re howling with outrage.
An old video has just resurfaced of a major construction project done on the White House grounds in 2010, during the Obama administration, as a CNN reporter happily discusses the project.
The video was reportedly about a massive $376 million renovation and infrastructure upgrade of the White House complex, which included upgrades to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as improving security infrastructure and modernizing offices in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and the West Wing.
Also, Obama converted an existing White House tennis court into a basketball court. The new court was designed so it can be used for either tennis or basketball.
According to CNN at the time, the project was expected to cost a whopping $376 million.
In the 2010 CNN report, a reporter acted perfectly delighted over the project. A narrator is heard saying, “It’s a four-year renovation project… estimated cost: $376 million.”
