ABC News terminated veteran correspondent Terry Moran after he posted on X that President Trump and Stephen Miller were “world‑class haters,” accusing Miller of acting on “bile” rather than intelligence.

The network suspended Moran for violating its objectivity and professionalism standards, then chose not to renew his contract, which was set to expire shortly afterward. As a result, liberal television host Jon Stewart erupted in frustration on his podcast, calling ABC’s decision “so stupid” and labeling the network “a f‑king joke.” He criticized ABC for maintaining a false elite neutrality, especially after settling a $15 million defamation case over Trump coverage. Stewart argued that Moran was dismissed to appease political pressure and protect ABC’s standing with the Trump administration.

Stewart pointedly connected this firing to broader media inconsistency, claiming that “everyday on Fox News” hosts deliver partisan commentary without consequence. He saw ABC’s move as hypocritical—punishing Moran’s pointed criticism while tolerating similar or worse rhetoric elsewhere.

Following his departure, Moran announced he’ll continue journalism independently on Substack, pledging to confront “important work” amid national turmoil.
