LAST CALL: SNL fans call for show’s CANCELLATION as comic icon is axed after 8 years in most shocking exit yet

FROM DAILY MAIL: A longtime Saturday Night Live star is leaving the show amid a major casting shakeup that has left fans of the iconic sketch comedy series shocked.

Daily Mail can confirm that Heidi Gardner has exited the show after an impressive eight-season run as furious viewers called for SNL to be cancelled amid the ongoing cast exodus.

The news of the 42-year-old comedian’s exit comes shortly after it was revealed that cast members Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim and Devon Walker would not be returning for season 51 on NBC.

Gardner joined Saturday Night Live in 2017 as a featured player and became a main cast member two years later. During her eight years on the show, she has written and starred in many sketches and impersonated celebrities like Reba McEntire and Kim Kardashian.

Gardner has hinted at leaving the show, admitting creative fatigue during an appearance on Craig Ferguson’s Joy podcast.

”I will say the only thing that I’ve started to feel a little bit is just sketch fatigue, or idea fatigue,” she told Ferguson. “At this point, after doing Groundlings and SNL for so long, I’m like, ‘I’ve written a lot of sketches.’”

SNL fans have reacted negatively to her departure, however, with some even demanding that the show be cancelled.

“i think we should cancel snl at this point like what’s even the point since we’re getting rid of so much talent already,” one fan wrote on X.

Another suggested budget issues were behind all the changes, writing, “just cancel SNL already.”

Other fans called Gardner “the heart and soul of the show” and “one of the funny people still there.”

Some fans think the change is good, as it will “make room for the kids coming up.”
