Dr. Anthony Fauci, appointed as a “distinguished university professor” at Georgetown University in 2023, has yet to teach a course, according to a new report.

His role, spanning the School of Medicine’s Infectious Diseases division and the McCourt School of Public Policy, is Georgetown’s highest professional honor, reserved for faculty with exceptional scholarship, teaching, and service achievements. And yet, The College Fix reported that Dr. Fauci has not taught any courses at Georgetown since his 2023 appointment. A review of the course catalog found no listings with Fauci as an instructor, despite the university’s announcement that he would engage in education and student interactions.

Since his appointment, Dr. Fauci has only delivered lectures and fireside chats for various Georgetown schools and met with some students one-on-one, according to an August interview with The Georgetowner. In April 2024, he also joined Georgetown’s O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law as a “Distinguished Senior Scholar,” focusing on advancing the right to health and addressing urgent public health concerns.

Fauci has faced renewed criticism following a congressional report on the pandemic. The report concluded the virus likely originated from a Wuhan lab and noted a lack of scientific backing for social distancing and masking. It also accused Fauci of downplaying the lab leak theory and misleading the public about NIH funding for gain-of-function research. Politico recently reported that President Biden is considering preemptive pardons for Fauci and others before President-elect Trump’s return to office in January.
