Television ratings for the first night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) dropped 22 percent compared to 2016, according to Nielsen ratings and a corresponding Breitbart report.
Around 20 million viewers tuned in, an increase from 2020’s virtual convention but a significant decline from 2016. MSNBC led viewership with 4.6 million, followed by CNN, ABC, Fox News, CBS, and NBC.
Despite extensive media promotion of Kamala Harris’s candidacy, the ratings decline suggests she may be less popular than portrayed. A Media Research Center study found that networks gave Harris 84 percent positive coverage, while Trump received 89 percent negative coverage. Consequently, many Biden voters remain unaware of Harris’s controversial positions.
Day two of the convention also faced criticism, with media outlets highlighting issues with the DNC’s schedule, talking points, and political strategy, as well as unrest outside the convention center.

Apparently Democrats are even LESS excited about Kamala than they were Hillary Clinton 🤣 pic.twitter.com/ugRl1iMeCk
