LA RIOTS: Violence escalates as thousands take to the streets, attack cops, burn cars [Trump releases statement]

For the third day in a row, protesters and rioters are taking to the streets in Los Angeles after federal immigration officials began an operation to arrest dozens of illegal alien criminals.

The protesters claimed ICE was sweeping through neighborhoods and businesses, kicking doors down and arresting everyone.  However, as Fox News reporter Bill Melugin explained, ICE was serving criminal judicial warrants, “targeting those who already have a deportation orders or who have criminality that has been signed off on by a federal judge.”

Sunday evening, the mob of protesters had risen to “thousands.” The protesters appear to be a diverse group, as some are carrying Mexican flags, some people are carrying anti-ICE signs, and some are wearing Palestinian head coverings.

The city has descended into complete lawlessness.

Citizen journalist “Stu” offered some chilling perspective on what the protest is actually about. He wrote:

“The rising of Palestine is the rising of us all…”

You may feel sympathy for “undocumented” individuals or Dreamers—but know this: the far-left sees these protests not as isolated causes, but as pieces of a larger revolutionary puzzle.

As one SDS member famously put it: “The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.”

To many radical activists, these anti-ICE demonstrations aren’t about immigration—they’re part of the same ideological current that cheered October 7th.

As Los Angeles turned into a complete “war zone,” President Donald Trump released the following statement on Truth Social Sunday afternoon:

A once great American City, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals.  Now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations — But these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve.

I am directing Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi, in coordination with all other relevant Departments and Agencies, to take all such action necessary to liberate Los Angeles from the Migrant Invasion, and put an end to these Migrant riots.

Order will be restored, the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Independent journalist Anthony Cabassa shared the following videos Sunday afternoon and noted, “This is the largest number of protesters I’ve seen in years. Police and national guard on location.”

The mob reportedly overpowered police and began walking on the freeway, shutting down traffic.

A major battle took place as police worked to get the protesters off the freeway, and multiple people were reportedly arrested.

The rioters destroyed multiple WayMo self-driving vehicles, setting at least two on fire:

Journalist Cam Higby reported, “LAPD just threatened to make arrests at the LA federal building but were overwhelmed by the riot mob. They threw glass bottles and even smashed a police cruiser windshield.”

“LA rioters are throwing EVERYTHING they have at police. Bottles, rocks, food, water,” Higby announced.

A police vehicle drives through, and the mob quickly attacks it.

“Protestors threaten to KILL police officers, and then throw glass bottles at them,” Higby writes.
