KEY HIGHLIGHTS: President Trump delivers special address to World Economic Forum, makes promise about Greenland

President Donald Trump delivered an address to the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland Wednesday morning, following an overnight flight from Washington, D.C.

In his speech, Trump highlighted the economic success of his first year back in office, and said, “The USA is the economic engine on the planet… and when America booms, the entire world booms.”

Trump also explained that securing America’s borders has played a key role in getting the country turned around. He warned that mass migration is destroying Europe.

“In recent decades, it became conventional wisdom in Washington, and European capitals that the only way to grow a modern Western economy was through ever-increasing government spending, unchecked mass migration and endless foreign imports… Virtually all of the so-called ‘experts’ predicted my plans to end this failed model would trigger a global recession and runaway inflation, but we have proven them wrong,” he said.

“In one year, I slashed our monthly trade deficit by a staggering 77%, and all of this with no inflation—something everyone said could not be done,” he noted.

He also explained the benefits of cutting back on excess government employees. “In 12 months, we have removed 270,000+ bureaucrats from the payroll, cut federal spending by $100 billion, slashed the federal budget deficit by 27%, cut 129 regulations for every ONE new regulation approved, passed the largest tax cuts in history, and so much more.”

Trump also warned against the “climate change” regulations and “nation-wrecking energy policies that drive-up prices,” and said, “Because of my landslide election victory, the United States avoided the catastrophic energy collapse which befell every European nation that pursued the Green New Scam — perhaps the greatest hoax in history.”

“The United States cares greatly about the people of Europe… and we believe deeply in the bonds we share,” Trump said, adding, “That’s why issues like energy, trade, immigration, and economic growth must be central concerns to anyone who wants a strong to see a strong and united West.”

Trump also addressed the elephant in the room – Greenland – and argued that no other nation except the United States is in a position to defend the northern country.

“It’s the United States alone that can protect this giant mass of land… develop it and improve it, so that it’s good and safe for Europe and for us…That’s the reason I am seeking immediate negotiations to once again discuss the acquisition of Greenland…This would not be a threat to NATO—this would greatly enhance the security of the entire alliance.”

President Trump then made the promise that is being blasted across headlines around the world – he promised he will not use force to take over Greenland.

“We never ask for anything, and we never got anything. We probably won’t get anything, unless I decide to use excessive strength and force, where we would be frankly unstoppable.. but I won’t do that… people thought I would use force, but I don’t have to use force, I don’t want to use force, I won’t use force,” Trump said.

“All the United States is asking for is a place called Greenland, where we already had it, as trustee, but respectfully returned it back to Denmark not long ago, after we defeated the Germans, the Japanese, the Italians, and others in World War II. We gave it back to them,” he noted.

“All we want from Denmark, for national and international security, and to keep our very energetic and dangerous potential enemies at bay, is this land on which we’re going to build the greatest Golden Dome ever built,” Trump said, making his case for why his plan to acquire Greenland is not only for U.S. interests, but for Europe’s best interest as well.

“We want a piece of ice for world protection… We’ve never asked for anything else—and we could have kept that piece of land, and we didn’t. So, they have a choice. You can say yes, and we will be very appreciative. Or you can say no, and we will remember,” Trump then stated.

President Trump also slammed corporations that are buying up homes, and vowed to put a stop to it.

“Homes are built for PEOPLE, not for corporations — and America will NOT become a nation of renters… That’s why I have signed an EO banning large institutional investors from buying single-family homes and I’m calling on Congress to pass that ban into permanent law,” he said.

Back to financial matters, Trump said, “I’m also working to ensure America remains the Crypto Capital of the World… Congress is working very hard on Crypto market structure legislation, which I hope to sign very soon, unlocking new pathways for Americans to reach financial freedom.”

“I have instructed government-backed institutions to purchase up to $200 billion in mortgage bonds to bring down interest rates… Last week, the average 30-year mortgage rate dropped below 6% for the first time in many years,” he added.

Touching on the chaos erupting in Minnesota, Trump said, “The situation in Minnesota reminds us that the West cannot mass-import foreign cultures which have failed to ever build a successful society of their own.”

“The explosion of prosperity…and progress that built the West did not come from our tax codes—it ultimately came from our very special culture,” Trump said. “We have to defend that culture, and rediscover the spirit that lifted the West from the depths of the Dark Ages to the pinnacle of human achievement.”

President Trump said multiple times during his remarks that it’s time for NATO to “step up.” He noted that the United States would be there for NATO if other countries were in trouble, but questioned whether NATO would actually come to the defense of the U.S.
