From Daily Mail: The search for missing Nancy Guthrie escalated Friday night as investigators seized a vehicle and a camera from the roof of her home – hours after another ‘ransom letter’ was sent by her purported abductors.
Forensic FBI teams were seen scouring the roof of Nancy’s home in Tucson, Arizona, reportedly finding a camera mounted to the property that had been missed in previous searches.
A dark SUV was also towed from the garage of the home, with Friday’s searches marking the third time investigators returned to the crime scene since Nancy was reported missing on Sunday.
Friday saw a hum of activity, including visits from forensics, FBI, and sheriff’s deputies.
Authorities conducted the new search after a second ransom message was sent to Tucson news outlet KOLD. The outlet also received a ransom on Tuesday, as were other news agencies, including TMZ. Authorities have called the notes “serious leads,” but their authenticity has yet to be verified.
KOLD said the new letter made no ransom demands, and it offered no proof of life.
But on Friday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he believes Nancy is “still alive.”
“What I believe is that Nancy was removed from her home against her will, and that we need to find her. That’s what I believe. She’s still alive,” Nanos said. “I believe that I have no choice until something shows me, a piece of physical evidence shows me that that’s different.”
Fox News reports that, according to a former FBI agent, a conclusion may be coming soon.
From Fox:
Former FBI special agent Stuart Kaplan told “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Saturday that he believes the “FBI and its partners are zeroing in” on Nancy Guthrie’s suspected captor or captors after a vehicle was taken away from her property yesterday.
“I think the FBI and its partners are zeroing in and that the noose is getting tighter and tighter. I think every time you see law enforcement go back to the house, they have in some capacity, additional digital footprints that require them to go back and corroborate or to dismiss or dispel or to confirm,” Kaplan said.
“And I see this latest event of taking this car, may be one of those confirmations. It may be that this car may have been shared with someone else,” Kaplan continued.
“We haven’t heard a lot about people that would come and help or assist Nancy, whether it was home healthcare aides, or just people that would come and maybe take her to the supermarket or to the beauty parlor,” Kaplan added. “If in fact this car may have been commonly used, they may have retrieved this car for forensic analysis to see whether or not there is any fiber or hair samples, or GPS tracking to see if in fact prior to last Sunday, was this car used by someone to go somewhere?”
