Kamala Harris screeches over government shutdown, social media hits back

Defeated by President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, Kamala Harris is now sitting on the sidelines and screeching over the government shutdown with one of her “Let me be clear” speeches.

Democrats refused to support the clean funding bill Republicans had put forth, insisting on adding back in a number of other wasteful spending provisions totaling an additional $1.5 TRILLION, including healthcare benefits for non-citizens.

Republicans refused to bow to those demands, so a government “shutdown” began at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday.

Minutes after the shutdown went into effect, Harris wrote in a post on X, “President Trump and Congressional Republicans just shut down the government because they refused to stop your health care costs from rising. Let me be clear: Republicans are in charge of the White House, House, and Senate. This is their shutdown.”

Harris is getting pounded over her post.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) quipped, “Your illegals first policy isn’t working.”

Leo Terrell fired back at Harris, “Lying and wrong! Two of the reasons you lost the election!”

Kamala, You are misleading people by blaming Republicans for the shutdown. The GOP passed a clean bill to keep the government open. It was Senate Democrats with Schumer leading the charge, who filibustered and killed it 47–53 because they wanted extras like ACA subsidies.

The subsidies were always temporary pandemic freebies. Everyone knew they’d expire this year. Acting shocked now is pure spin.

For the first time ever, Democrats voted against a clean CR. That’s why the lights went out. This wasn’t a GOP ambush, it was a Democratic miscalculation. So maybe it’s time Democrats stop pointing fingers and own up to their role in the mess. A little honesty would go a long way.

Other have given Harris a visual explanation, in case she can’t understand why the shutdown happened, pointing out to her that it was the DEMOCRATS who have voted “no” on the funding bill.
