Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was identified as the suspect arrested for allegedly pointing an AK-47 at former President Trump while he golfed, according to law enforcement sources.

Routh had previously promoted left-wing causes on social media. According to his LinkedIn, Ryan Wesley Routh attended North Carolina A&T State University and moved to Hawaii around 2018. He describes himself as “mechanically minded” and passionate about “ideas, inventions, and creative projects with artistic flair.”

Secret Service agents spotted Routh near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach with an AK-47. After agents opened fire, Routh fled but was later arrested on I-95 by local police.

Routh owns Camp Box Honolulu, a shed-building company with few positive reviews. Though inactive on X for a year, he previously posted frequent criticisms of politicians like Trump and Biden, as well as celebrities like Bruno Mars. In one odd reply to Elon Musk, Routh inquired about buying a rocket, writing: “I would like to buy a rocket from you. I wish to load it with a warhead for Putin’s Black Sea mansion bunker to end him. Can you give me a price please. It can be old and used as not returning.”

Routh expressed support for Republican candidates Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley in a post where he encouraged them to continue their presidential campaigns: “You cannot quit. Why. You must stay on the ballot to the end. You must fight. You must continue giving speeches and push all the way to election day no matter the election results. Do not give in. Join Nikki and keep working. Never give up.”

Routh strongly supports Ukraine and Taiwan in their conflicts with Russia and China. On X, he claimed to have unsuccessfully pitched the idea of former Afghan troops fighting for Ukraine and said he visited Kyiv, expressing willingness to fight on the front lines if allowed.

He also shared a connection with former Rep. Adam Kinzinger:
