JUST IN: DHS breaks silence on claims officers counted bullet holes in Pretti instead of helping him

From Daily MailThe Department of Homeland Security has denied claims that federal agents counted bullet holes in Alex Pretti’s body after he was killed in Minneapolis.

A licensed pediatrician who witnessed the 37-year-old’s death alleged in a sworn affidavit filed in federal court that the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents who shot him dead refused to administer aid at the scene.

The doctor – whose name has been redacted – said he saw four federal officers point their weapons at Pretti, before they fired at him ‘at least six or seven times,’ the court filing stated.

The witness allegedly tried to treat Pretti and found the ICU nurse “on his side,” which is “not standard practice” for a shooting victim.

“Checking for a pulse and administering CPR is standard practice,” the pediatrician’s testimony stated. “Instead of doing either of those things, the agents appeared to be counting his bullet wounds.”

Asked about the allegations, the DHS responded, with a spokesman telling Daily Mail: “Two Border Patrol agents, who are national[ly] certified emergency medical technicians, immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Video of the incident shows agents kneeling next to Pretti in the aftermath of the shooting.

President Donald Trump announced Monday that he is sending his border czar, Tom Homan, to Minneapolis, who will “report directly to me.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Monday that officers with Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI would be investigating the shooting, including interviewing the CBP agents who shot Pretti.
