JAWDROPPING UPDATE: Des Moines school board makes stunning decision on illegal alien superintendent, State of Iowa cracks down

Several new stunning developments have emerged in the case of the Des Moines public school superintendent who was arrested Friday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.  The man is from Guyana and is in the U.S. illegally.

Instead of firing him, the school board is still defending the man, and has put him on PAID leave.  And it gets worse…..

From the Daily Mail: The superintendent of Iowa’s largest school district was placed on administrative leave on Saturday, one day after he was arrested by ICE agents for being in the country illegally.

The Des Moines school district board voted unanimously to place Superintended Ian Roberts, 54, on paid leave because he would be unable to perform his duties for the 30,000-student district in light of his arrest.

The board stated they would reassess Roberts’s employment status for his $305,000 a year job once they received more information, and they were generally supportive of him.

After Roberts was arrested, school board chair Jackie Norris, who previously served as White House chief of staff for then-first lady Michelle Obama, asked for people to have ‘radical empathy’ as Roberts’s case developed.

After Roberts was arrested, Norris claimed that officials “do not have all the facts,” and declared, “However, what we do know is that Dr. Roberts has been an integral part of our school community since he joined over two years ago.’

This is Des Moines School District Board Chair Jackie Norris, a Democrat who is running for U.S. Senate, as she defiantly defended Roberts and called for people to show “radical empathy”:

Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa), who is also running for U.S. Senate, blasted Norris.

“The Des Moines School Board — led by one of my opponents @MsJackieNorris — is still paying illegal immigrant fugitive Ian Roberts after he was rightfully detained by ICE. All while my other opponent, @ZachWahls, stays silent on this criminal being in charge of the largest school district in the state. Ian Roberts should be deported, not collecting another taxpayer funded paycheck,” Hinson declared.

On Sunday, the State of Iowa sent a letter to Roberts, announcing that since he is not a legal resident of the United States, the state has REVOKED his Iowa Board of Education license, and he is no longer eligible to serve as a school superintendent.

The Daily Mail further revealed that Roberts has actually worked in several school districts around the country:

He came to the US in 1999 on a student visa, and starting in September 2000, he had a brief stint as a teacher in the New York City public school system. He spent the next nine years in Baltimore public schools, where he eventually became a principal.

Since 2015, he has worked in schools in St. Louis, Missouri; Oakland, California; Erie, Pennsylvania; Kansas City, Missouri; and of course Des Moines.

Before serving as the superintendent for the Des Moines school district, Roberts was the superintended at the Millcreek Township school district in Pennsylvania.

Civil liberties attorney Laura Powell also shared the following bombshell, revealing that the school board in Erie, Pennsylvania was well aware Roberts could not verify his eligibility for the job as superintendent of their school, but they hired him anyway.

Powell writes: “Ian Roberts was offered the position of superintendent at Millcreek Township School District in Erie, Pennsylvania in May 2020. School board minutes from July show that they were struggling to ratify the contract because Roberts could not produce the documents necessary to obtain a letter of eligibility. In particular, he had not provided the necessary proof of his doctorate and had not completed the FBI check. An attorney advised them that they could use an “alternate route” to confirm his eligibility for the position. The plan was to employ him, and “hopefully” the FBI clearance would come through within 90 days. Roberts became superintendent in August 2020, and I cannot anything in the board’s records that indicates whether they revisited the matter.”

Despite that he is NOT a U.S. citizen, information has now surfaced that Roberts registered as a Democrat in Maryland in 2012, which raises speculation that he may have also illegally voted in U.S. election.
